JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Defensive Back Marvin Ross signed with Sharks for his third season of arena football and second season with the Sharks.
Ross (5’11”, 180) joined the Sharks at the beginning of the 2017 season. Ross played in six regular season games for the Sharks before joining the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. During his time in the CFL, Ross played in two games for Calgary. As a Shark, Ross racked up 22 tackles, eight interceptions and two pass breakups. Ross also played on special teams for Jacksonville where he recorded six kick returns for 140 yards and one touchdown. Despite only playing in six games, Ross earned First Team All-NAL honors, two defensive player of the week awards and was second in the league in interceptions with eight (Rodney Hall 10). Prior to the Sharks, Ross played for the Cleveland Gladiators in 2016. During his time in Cleveland, he tallied 84 tackles, 24 pass-breakups, six interceptions and two forced fumbles earning AFL’s Rookie of the Year award. Prior to Cleveland, Ross spent three seasons with the Columbus Lions (2013-2015).
Ross spent his college career at Florida A&M University. During his four years with the Rattlers he totaled 113 tackles, 14 pass breakups, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Ross is a native of Jacksonville, FL where he played at Trinity Christian Academy.
