JACKSONVILLE  – The Jacksonville Sharks added another offensive target on Wednesday, as the team announced that wide receiver Andrae Thurman has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 33-year-old Thurman (5’10”, 180) enters his fifth season in the Arena Football League. Most recently, Thurman was a fixture in the lineup of the Philadelphia Soul, making 16 starts in 18 appearances with the team during the 2013 season. In his lone season in Philadelphia, Thurman established new career highs with 117 receptions for 1,197 yards and finished third on the team with 16 touchdown catches. Thurman also started each of the Soul’s three playoff games, totaling 14 receptions for 159 yards and three scores during Philadelphia’s postseason run.

In 2012, Thurman split time between the Arizona Rattlers and Milwaukee Mustangs, recording 72 catches for 1,026 yards and 21 touchdowns that season. He previously saw action with the Dallas Desperados during both the 2007 and 2008 seasons. During his two years in Dallas, Thurman totaled 1,131 yards and 26 touchdowns on 90 receptions.

Thurman also brings significant professional experience in other leagues. Beginning in 2009, he spent three seasons with the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives, totaling 57 receptions for 796 yards. Thurman is the UFL’s all-time leading receiver in both receptions and receiving yards. Thurman also spent one season in the Canadian Football League, as he hauled in 40 catches for 426 yards and a touchdown with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2006. Thurman also got a taste of the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers, appearing in game action in both 2004 and 2005. Thurman totaled nine catches for 104 yards in his time with the Packers, adding 248 return yards.

Thurman spent his collegiate career at Southern Oregon University. During his time with the Raiders, Thurman totaled 105 receptions for 1,530 yards and four touchdowns. Thurman is a native of Houston, Texas.

In another Wednesday transaction, the Sharks announced that defensive lineman Reggie Paramoure has been placed on injured reserve.
