JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Wednesday that the team has executed a trade with the Los Angeles KISS. In the deal, the Sharks acquired defensive back George Baker and future considerations in exchange for offensive lineman Roderick Tomlin and completed future considerations.

The 24-year-old Baker (5’10”, 180) was originally acquired by Jacksonville in a trade with the Los Angeles KISS on May 12. An AFL rookie, Baker had been with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans at the time of the trade.

A Florida native, Baker spent his collegiate career at the University of South Florida. After redshirting in 2008, Baker appeared in 47 games over the next four seasons, emerging as a full-time starter as a senior in 2012. That year, Baker racked up 42 tackles and five pass breakups. Over the course of his tenure with the Bulls, Baker totaled 77 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and seven pass breakups.

The 23-year-old Tomlin now heads to Los Angeles after starting each of the Sharks’ first five games in 2014 and was then placed on league suspension on May 12. In addition to his duties in pass protection, Tomlin has caught two passes for 25 yards and a touchdown this season. Before heading to the AFL, Tomlin spent his collegiate career at Murray State.

The Sharks also announced Wednesday that fullback Jared McGriff-Culver has been placed on inactive reserve. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
