JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Friday that defensive lineman Dexter Jackson has been assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Jackson (6’2”, 270, Bethune-Cookman) returns to his hometown with five years of AFL experience. Jackson began his career with the Milwaukee Mustangs in 2011 where he recorded 26.5 tackles, six sacks and two fumble recoveries in his rookie season. Prior to joining the Sharks, Jackson played for the San Jose SaberCats, Orlando Predators and Tampa Bay Storm. Last season with the Storm, Jackson contributed to the defensive line totaling 8.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.


Jackson began his collegiate career down the road in Daytona Beach at Bethune-Cookman University. He played in all four seasons for the Bobcats recording 154 tackles, seven sacks, four fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He earned First-Team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors in his senior year.


A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Jackson played defensive linebacker with Ed White High School.
