JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced Sunday that defensive lineman Charles “Chuckie” Hunter has been assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks through a trade with the Arizona Rattlers. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hunter (6’1”, 305, Texas Christian University) comes to the Sharks for his rookie season after finishing camp with the Arizona Rattlers. Prior to the Rattlers, Hunter joined the Dallas Cowboys for training camp in 2015 as an undrafted free agent before making the decision to join the AFL.

Hunter began his collegiate football career at TCU. In four seasons with the Horned Frogs, Hunter recorded 140 tackles (66 solo and 74 assisted) and two forced fumbles. A major threat on the defensive line, Hunter was a two-time All Big 12 selection and finished his career with the Horned Frogs with a 42-3 win over TCU rival Ole Miss in the 2014 Peach Bowl where Hunter contributed with five tackles and a sack.

A native of West Monroe, Louisiana, Hunter attended West Monroe High School where he lead his team to a 5A state championship in 2009 at defensive tackle. Hunter was a four-star recruit and was ranked 27th in the nation at defensive tackle and third in Louisiana. He was also a 5A First-Team All-State Selection and named Louisiana’s Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year. In his senior year alone, he totaled 82 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
