JACKSONVILLE –The Sharks announced Monday that head coach Les Moss has been relieved of his duties effective immediately.
Moss is the only head coach since the team’s inaugural season in 2010 and is 77-54 overall with the Sharks. Moss is 70-50 during regular season and 7-4 in the playoffs.
During Moss’ tenure, the Sharks have made it to two Arenabowls including a 73-70 victory over the Arizona Rattlers in Arena Bowl XXIV in the team’s second season, won two American Conference Championships (2011 & 2015) and four South Division titles (2010-2013.)
Unfortunately, the past three seasons have fallen short of expectations with Moss posting a 22-28 regular season record. Additionally, the Sharks have not hosted a playoff game since 2013.
“We would like to thank Coach Moss for helping us start the Jacksonville Sharks and put Jacksonville on the Arena Football League map.” Operating Manager Jeff Bouchy said. “We are indebted to him for our early successes and we wish him well in his future coaching endeavors.”
The 2010 Coach of the year began his career in the AFL as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bruisers in 1988. Moss was the Defensive Coordinator for the Orlando Predators from 1991-2003 where he helped the team win two AFL Championships in 1998 and 2000.
Moss’ first head coaching job was for the Scranton Pioneers of the AF2 from 2004-2009 and was hired by the Sharks in 2010.
