JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that All-NAL fullback Derrick “The Lawnmower” Ross re-signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his eighth season of arena football and fourth season with the Jacksonville Sharks.  

Ross (6’0”, 285) led the NAL in touchdowns (27), rushing attempts (110), rushing yards (521) and rushing touchdowns (25). Following the 2017 regular season the league leader was awarded First Team All-NAL Honors. Ross also earned his first-ever championship title helping the Sharks to a 27-21 victory of the Columbus Lions. Ross played a key role in the championship victory where he caught a pass for a 24-yards, rushed for 19 yards on eight attempts and scored a rushing touchdown.

During his career Ross has dominated both the NAL and AFL as a league leader. In his seven seasons he has amassed 982 carries for 3,766 yards and 220 touchdowns. Ross earned All-Arena honors in 2015 and holds the AFL record for career rushes (872), rushing yards (3,245) and rushing touchdowns (195). Prior to the Sharks, Ross played for the Kansas City Chief (2006), Cologne Centurions (2007), Montreal Alouettes (2008), Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2009), Dallas Vigilante (2011) and Philadelphia Soul (2012-2014).

Ross is a native of Huntsville, Texas and spent his college career at Tarleton State University after transferring from Blinn College. Ross holds Tarleton State’s records for rushing yards in a single game (269), rushing yards in a single season (1,560) and touchdowns in a single season (22).
