JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that Defensive Lineman Keith Bowers signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his third year of arena football and third season with the Sharks.

Bowers (6’2”, 285) joined the Sharks mid-season playing in five regular season games where he gained 10.5 tackles, 8.5 for a loss, 8.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Bowers was second on the team in sacks and tied for first in forced fumbles. Bowers and Jermiah Price became a dynamic duo on the defensive line and helped the Sharks to a 2017 championship victory. In the NAL Championship game, Bowers led the Sharks with two sacks and also recorded two tackles in the Sharks 27-21 win over the Columbus Lions. Bowers first joined in the Sharks in 2016 for his rookie season where he joined Jacksonville towards the end of the regular season. During his rookie season stint he recorded one tackle and one forced fumble.

Prior to his pro career, Bowers spent four years at the University of Maryland where he became the first freshman to start for the Terrapins since 2005. That season, Bowers earned the Freshman All-American honorable mention. During his career at Maryland, Bowers started in 46 games, landing 119 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Bowers is a Florida native from West Palm Beach, FL where he attended William T. Dwyer High School. Bowers led his team to back-to-back state championships (2009-2010). Additionally, he recorded an impressive 15 sacks his senior year.
