Jacksonville Sharks Score a Touchdown with Local Television Agreement

The Jacksonville Sharks announced today a broadcast agreement with WCWJ CW17 to broadcast games locally in the Jacksonville area.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer Shark fans all over Northeast Florida and Southern Georgia the opportunity to watch our home games live,” stated Jeff Bouchy, Sharks Managing Partner. “While every AFL fan understands the excitement and intimacy you experience in person at the arena, we felt it was imperative in our first year that all of Jacksonville and the surrounding areas get to experience the game in their living rooms first-hand.”

Bouchy added, “Our corporate partners will receive exposure from a sports marketing level that can only be achieved in the unique way the AFL provides advertising ... visibility in the game, all the time.”

The Sharks will have six (6) of eight (8) home games broadcast live for fans in the greater Jacksonville area to watch. CW17 has partnered with the Sharks to broadcast five (5) of the eight (8) home games for the inaugural season. With four Sharks games being broadcast nationally on the NFL Network, this allows fans in Jacksonville and the surrounding communities an opportunity to view nine (9) games on television.

“The excitement of the Sharks and the AFL on television was a perfect fit for the station,” said Marc Hefner, VP and General Manager of WCWJ CW17. “Having the opportunity to provide live broadcasts of the Sharks home games was an easy decision, as it continues the station’s effort to provide more local programming. We expect a strong following of a coveted demographic and look forward to the partnership with the Sharks for years to come.”
